A quick trip up and down the coast of the eastern United States will take you right through Virginia. This state is filled with many different locations that reflect how the United States came to be. Different battlegrounds are marked, and many different museums can be visited. If you would like to book a trip here to learn about US history, especially going to Washington DC, you can certainly save a lot of money online. Here are just a few of the many things you will be able to see when you get to Virginia, and the cities that they are in.
Why You Need To Visit Arlington
There are a couple tourist attractions here that are highly recommended. First of all, there is the Arlington National Cemetery. Although this may seem like a grim place to visit, you realize how many people died for our country. The same is true when you go to the Tomb of the Unknowns. It’s not that far away from the cemetery. Once you have seen both of these, you will have a little better understanding of how much our country has meant to so many people.
Why You Should Visit Fredericksburg
Another place that you should visit is Fredericksburg. This is primarily because of the Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park. There are multiple battlefields that you can see, and these are areas where reenactments are sometimes done, showing people what happened. It’s a great place to go, as well as Manasses which has something very similar. Once you’re done there, you need to head up to Richmond.
Why You Should Visit Richmond
If you go here, you can go to Maymont which will be one of the most beautiful places you have ever been. It is a day trip, and you will see gorgeous and beautiful gardens, with flowers as far as the eye can see. It is well-kept, and in stark contrast in many ways to the battlefields and memorials that you will see. From there, you should head up into Alexandria so that you can see Washington DC.
All of these places are fantastic and will give you a different vibe on how things have come to where we are today. You will also get to examine some of the nicest places with flowers, and monuments that reflect American history.
